'Agapanthus' Apartment is ideally situated on the Islands

Nestled in a quiet rural setting at Porthloo on the largest of the islands, St. Mary's, 'Agapanthus' Apartment is just a minutes walk from the sandy secluded bathing beach of Thomas Porth (below) where views to the islands of Samson, Bryher and Tresco dominate the horizon.

Samson and Tresco from Thomas Porth

The front aspect of the property faces west with views towards the beach at Thomas Porth, the quay and harbour area and open sea beyond. To the east, the apartment overlooks open countryside, the fields forming part of a designated area of outstanding natural beauty adjacent to the duck pond at the end of the Lower Moors nature trail (below). The trail extends to Old Town on the southern side of the island.

Spectacular views can be had from the nearby remains of an ancient castle known locally as Harry's Walls whilst the adjacent beach at Porthmellon with its popular sailing centre is just a short walk along the coastal path.

Porthloo Duckpond and Lower Moors Trail

Within a five minute walk of the apartment are several ancient monuments, the island's golf course and two restaurants. In the hamlet of Porthloo can be found a number of interesting craft workshops and three art galleries.

Hugh Town, the 'capital' of St. Mary's with its shops, banks, post office, hotel bars, pubs, fine restaraunts and other amenities is a pleasant fifteen minute walk from the property via the coastal path with spectacular views of the off-islands of Samson and Tresco and the absorbing activities of the inter-island boats around St. Mary's harbour along the way. 'Off-island' boat excursions including trips to the famous Abbey gardens on Tresco and wildlife tours leave daily from the harbour quay.

The Garden

Following a day out exploring the islands, our guests are most welcome to relax in the lovely landscaped gardens surrounding the property.

Developed over the last decade, the terraced garden is a blaze of colour in the summer. The many integral seating areas provide the perfect atmoshere to enjoy the flora and varied birdlife. Patio areas for alfresco dining are positioned to take advantage of the panoramic inland views.

Located in a pleasant and tranquil area, yet within easy reach of places to visit and the island's many amenities, you will find 'Agapanthus' Apartment ideally situated to partake of the delights of this unique archipelago.
